Lori Kiefer, MD is dual board-certified in pain management and  anesthesiology. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry from Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. She then attended Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) in Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree. After medical school, Dr. Kiefer completed her anesthesiology internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. After several years practicing as an anesthesiologist in Bloomington, Indiana, serving in multiple leadership roles and as volunteer clinical faculty at IUSM, she decided to pursue further training in interventional pain medicine and completed her fellowship at IUSM.

Dr. Kiefer’s interests include minimally invasive techniques for treatment of joint, neck, and back pain that include traditional therapies like injections, nerve blocks, and ablations as well as advanced options like spinal cord and DRG stimulators, kyphoplasty, peripheral nerve stimulation (Curonix, Sprint, and ReActiv8), posterior SI joint fusion (Nevro and PainTeq), basivertebral nerve ablation (Intracept), intradiscal allograft supplementation (Via Disc), and minimally invasive lumbar decompression (Mild).

Her patients find that her attention to detail, bedside manner, and thoroughness leave them feeling informed and confident with their plan of care.

Outside of work, Dr. Kiefer enjoys exercising, spending time with her family, reading, and enjoying the sunshine outside.

Amazing, thorough, incredible bedside manner, answered all questions, made sure the injection was the right thing to do before we did it, and that I was comfortable with it also! Recommend 10 times over!

Everybody seems to know what they’re doing, things are fast and efficient. My only complaint is the insurance company.

She is the best yet and I’ve seen many doctors on the ladder Spectrum. Very detailed explaining the process and patience when learning a new patient with these serious conditions and injuries and has been dealing with these for years . Great bed side manners. Glad I found her practice.
